About Tako Shanshiashvili
Tako Shashiashvili is a renowned Georgian artist, born in 1971, who currently lives and works in Tbilisi. She graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in easel graphics in 1995 and has been a member of the Artists’ Union since 2000. Shashiashvili’s artwork explores human emotions, a subject she finds particularly compelling in our postmodern world, where mechanization and technology often dominate our lives. Through her work, she delves into the fundamental emotions that define us as humans, creating surreal and phantasmagoric worlds where reality is portrayed through feelings and dreams.
Shashiashvili has participated in various group and solo exhibitions in Georgia and abroad, showcasing her artistic vision and unique voice. Her artwork has been displayed in prestigious art venues such as the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris (2021), the Virsbo konsthall in Sweden (2015), and the National Gallery in Tbilisi (2003). She has also been part of several art events, including the Art Connects Women exhibitions in Dubai (2020-2023), the Fashion Expo in Amsterdam (2017), and the Upper Hutt exhibition in New Zealand (2019).
Shashiashvili’s works have been featured in several personal exhibitions, including shows at the Tumanishvili Artist Gallery in Tbilisi (2014), the UN House in Tbilisi (2005), and the IASHVILI Gallery in Telavi (2008). She has also held exhibitions in prestigious locations such as the Embassy of America in Tbilisi (2007) and the Zurab Tsereteli exhibition hall in Tbilisi (2002). Shashiashvili’s diverse exhibition history is a testament to her artistic versatility and creativity, which continue to inspire and captivate audiences around the world.
