In 1977 Mikeladze became a student in the faculty of Painting and Restorations at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, from where he graduated in 1983. fostering a deep connection with Georgia’s artistic legacy through hands-on restoration of ancient frescoes. This intersection of academia and craftsmanship shaped the artist’s intricate perspective.

His professional canvas stretches from the Film Studio “Kartuli Filmi” to the sacred walls of churches across Georgia and Europe. Between 1976 and 1995, Mikeladze’s contributions to the Main Department of Monument Protection imbued him with a nuanced understanding of artistic preservation, later leading him to the chapel in Vipiteno, Italy, and murals in Paris.

Mikeladze’s artistic medium transcends the physical, becoming a conduit to the profound. The layered textures, a mosaic of raw pigments, speak of the land’s flesh; the colors, rich and emotive, are the very blood of Khevsureti’s heart. The interplay of light and shadow on his canvas echoes the eternal contrast of life’s visibilities and obscurities, a testament to the human condition’s dynamism. Art, in Mikeladze’s vision, is a reflective surface, mirroring life in all its facets, its joys and sorrows, its simplicity and complexity. Through his work, we perceive our own reflections, our own stories interwoven with those of others. His paintings invite us to look beyond the surface to the profound narratives etched within, to the soulful expressions that transcend the mere act of viewing, offering a communion with the artwork that is deeply personal and intensely universal.

The power of Mikeladze’s art lies in its adaptability, its ability to honor the specific qualities of Georgian heritage while simultaneously engaging with the overarching human saga. His art serves as a vessel for the ebb and flow of cultural memory, a dialogue that remains perennially open between the viewer and the viewed, between the artist and the artifact.
