Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, the artist is best know for his fine art, his carrier spanning 45 years and the globe. Sergo over the years has developed his own visual language that weaves and expands on the existing art styles be it contemporary or classical art, resulting in the works that are completely captivating and transcendent. Sergos’s artistic practice is influenced by his time at the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Art , where he received his BA and as well his work around the eastern europe during the early 70s and 80s, where he worked in different mediums and formats such as ceramics, glass and mosaics on monumental scale. His first solo series exudes Romanticism, highlighting Georgia’s landscapes and mountainous terrain, offering a glimpse into a world reminiscent of the emotive quality found in Caspar David Friedrich’s works, a defining force of the Romantic era.
During this era he had his first solo exhibition in the Istanbul, Turkey which sold out on the first day. Over time, his style evolved, maturing into a rich and complex composition. Changing the rhythm and the rhyme, introducing and balancing more complex subjects into details of his works and overtures to his favorite books and stories.
