Ia Gigoshvili received a Grant artist of the USSR Union of Artists in 1988. She completed her formal education at the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Art in the Republic of Georgia, graduating in 1981. During her time at the academy, she also studied at the Graphic Studio of Sergo Kobuladze from 1980 to 1983, refining her skills and expanding her artistic repertoire.

Gigoshvili has showcased her works in numerous personal exhibitions, starting with the Artists House in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1984. Her artistic journey took her to international venues, including the Grillo Theater in Essen, Germany, the Dagstuhl Palace in Saarland, Germany, the European Academy in Otzenhausen, Germany, and the Saar Gallery in Saarbruecken, Germany, all in 1993. She also exhibited her works at the City Hall in Harburg, Germany, in 1991. In subsequent years, Gigoshvili presented her art at notable galleries such as TBS Gallery in Tbilisi, ‘Sharden Gallery’ in Tbilisi, and Gallery Anna Pavlova in Dordrecht. Her exhibitions continued in diverse locations, including the City Hospital in Dordrecht and the Rein Ruhr Centre in Essen, Germany, both in 1997 and 1995, respectively.

Throughout her career, Gigoshvili has garnered recognition and accolades for her artistic achievements. Notably, she received the Best Graphic Arts award, a prestigious golden medal in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1986. She also participated in the Graphic Biennale of USSR artists in Moscow, where she was awarded the bronze medal in 1987. Furthermore, she showcased her talent at the Enamel International Exhibition in Barcelona, earning a silver medal in 2002.

Her art was featured in the ‘Kobalt Gruppe’ exhibition at the Hamburghaus in Hamburg, Germany, and displayed at the American Centres in Moscow and St. Petersburg in 1995. Gigoshvili’s works have been showcased internationally in venues such as the Fans Masereel Centre in Kasterlee, Belgium, the Hutchinson Art Association Annual Print Show in Hutchinson, KS, USA, and ‘Intergraphica’ in Berlin, Germany, all reflecting the broad reach of her artistry.
