About Mamuka Mikeladze

Mamuka Mikeladze was born on February 26, 1959, in Tbilisi, Georgia. He started his study of arts at J.Nikoladze Art School (1973-1977). In 1977 Mikeladze became a student in the faculty of Painting and Restorations at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, from where he graduated in 1983. During this period of his life, he worked on the restoration of frescoes of ancient Georgian cultural monuments (1977-1983) and this experience greatly influenced his future career. From 1985-1986 Mamuka Mikeladze worked as a film designer at Film Studio “Kartuli Filmi” and in 1976-1995 – as a restorer at the Main Department of Monument Protection. From 1998 – 2000 Mamuka participated in and lead exhibitions around western Europe. From 2001 – 2003 Mamuka began working on church frescos in Tbilisi and other provinces of Georgia. In 2003 he began working on the chapel in Vipiteno, Italy. Also, he painted murals in Paris at the Georgian church. Since 2003 his Artworks have been displayed at Art Gallery Line.

Mamuka’s art style is heavily inspired by the traditional fresco techniques found around Georgia, mixed with the elements of the 20th-century primitivist movement. Her work is a blend of both ancient and modern, depicting images of the natural world in a way that feels both familiar and alien. His work focuses on capturing the essence of his subjects through color, line, and shape. He uses color to create moods, depict emotions, or simply enhance an image. Mikeladze’s work is not limited by time or place, but rather reflects his own interpretation of reality and our place in it. His work also heavily utilized technical aspects of traditional fresco paintings utilizing raw pigments to create a texture and vibrant colors found in all of his paintings.
