About Tamar Minashvili

Tamar Minashvili was born in 1964 in the vibrant city of Tbilisi. Her artistic journey began at the School of Jacob Nikoladze from 1980 to 1984, where she was a recipient of the Elene Akhvlediani Scholarship. Her passion for art led her to the Tbilisi Apollon Kutateladze Fine Arts Academy, where she further honed her skills. Between 1991 and 1993, she completed a post-graduate course focusing on book illustration, a program that is now equivalent to a doctorate.

Venturing into academia, Tamar began teaching drawing and painting at the Faculty of Architecture, within the Department of Monumental Art at the Academy of Arts in 1995. Her dedication and expertise secured her a position as a professor of painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 2009. In parallel, she became a member of the Union of Artists of Georgia in 1997.

Tamar’s acclaimed work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions both in Georgia and internationally. Her international exhibitions span countries including France, Italy, the USA, Romania, Iran, and Lithuania. Beyond exhibitions, she has actively participated in various artistic projects around the globe. Significant engagements include her participation in Transylvania in 2011, Rashnov (Romania) in 2012, and notable international art symposiums under the auspices of UNESCO in Southern Italy (2013) and Bukovina (Romania) (2014).

Tamar’s work was also featured in notable exhibitions such as “From Petraut to Paris” in 2017, and a significant exhibition in Riga in 2018, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Georgian and Latvian independence. Most recently, in 2022, she participated in a charity exhibition, “Artist for Ukraine,” dedicated to the war in Ukraine, held at the Tbilisi State Art Academy. Her body of work and involvement in artistic projects continue to enrich the cultural tapestry within Georgia and beyond.
